In Luxembourg, new legislation is before Parliament to block sales of violent video games to minors and outlaw adults from making online sexual advances to minors under the age of 16. This may require websites and online video game retailers to address age restricted content sales and interactions.
UK legislation seeks to use age restriction for adult e-commerce transactions
A bill currently in the British House of Lords would make age verification a mandatory process for the sale of age-restricted goods online. The age-checking systems would have to be used if one of 20 separate products were sold, including knives, alcohol, tobacco, age-restricted video games and DVDs, solvents and spray paints. This is modeled after the age restrictions that are required by the UK Gambling commission, where Aristotle’s age verification service is certified by the BBFC and currently in use by leading gaming companies to meet their regulatory requirements, as well as in the distribution of age-restricted video games and DVDs. I-Gaming legislation unveiled in U.S. House of Representatives
Barney Frank introduced I-Gaming legislation on May 6, 2009. Stressing protection for minors and problem gamblers under a regulated online gaming environment, this bill would enable U.S. and International gaming operators to offer online gambling to US citizens. On-line poker legislation to be introduced in California this session
Draft legislation will be introduced shortly in California that will enable regulated Internet poker within the geographical borders of California. This bill would establish a regulatory framework for compliance with age restriction requirements.
