Privacy for Online Businesses

Identity and Access Management, IAM, is critical to all enterprise markets, especially those involved in transactional activity where the protection of privacy is essential. IAM involves several steps, one of which is the authentication of the identity prior to any provisioning administration being invoked. As long as internet use for business purposes continues to rise, the threat of hackers will continue to grow - therefore requiring security and authentication processes while maintaining compliance and business regulations.

Many IAM Solutions fit within the Software Oriented Architecture (SOA). The SOA adoption has been held up with confusion as to whether it is a business-oriented architecture or an IT integration process. It is really both which is why there has been difficulty with SOA becoming the key enable of the 21st century. However IAM has been an integrated and necessary process with transaction based organizations for dozens of years and will soon find its position as an essential process within the SOA platform.

EiG: View from Barcelona

Barcelona Tower Barcelona Tower 2

Having just returned from the European I-gaming conference EiG in Barcelona, it really feels like industries and politics is are in a constant state of rebuilding - where countries, companies, and people stand on each others shoulders and rely on each other to build solid policies or structures. I saw a great metaphor of this up close with the Castellers of Barcelona that I watched and actually joined over the weekend at the Merce' festival, the celebration of the city's patron saint. The goal of the Castellers is to build the most fantastic human castles, or structures, by tightly binding themselves together in a coordinated effort. The goal is to provide such a safe and sturdy structure that a 6-year-old girl can climb to the top.

To extend the metaphor... Aristotle is working to provide a more stable structure for the castle and ideally for the kids that we seek to protect.

At the EiG conference, I was struck by how strongly the industry and regulators are coming together to explore global solutions for age verification - it's time to put aside the "competitive fire." By coming together we can build a healthier political environment for the gaming industry, and even a better public attitude toward I-gaming worldwide.
